Kindness Matters!

People really care about kindness and most are good at it. But sometimes we get caught up in day-to-day happenings, and we might lose sight of kindness. Ultimately, we love to be thought of as being kind, and we appreciate it when others show kindness. At Village Communities, home to our amazing Columbus, Ohio condominiums, we believe that the more you practice kindness, the happier you might be. And who doesn’t want to be happier?

What can you do to Spread Kindness?

Pay it Forward:
Pay for the person behind you at your local coffee shop, or at a toll stop, or the movie theatre. It doesn’t matter where, just try it. You might start something!

Every place can use volunteers! Read to kids at school, help out at a food bank, hang out at an animal shelter, pick up trash in your neighborhood, or look online for all of the opportunities available in our city. You don’t have to donate money, time spent helping is just as important!

Be Meaningful in Your Compliments:
Be thoughtful about the compliments you give, and be sure they will be meaningful to the receiver of the compliment!

Hold the Door:
This isn’t hard to do, but how many of us actually do it? Even better, strike up a quick conversation and see what happens!

Clean Up:
If you are working in an office, clean up the office kitchen. At home, maybe your spouse left dishes in the kitchen or clothes out of the laundry basket, so just clean it up. Sometimes just doing a job no one wants to do, makes everyone happier!

Say thank you as much as you can. We get caught up in getting stuff done, and sometimes we forget to say thanks. You will definitely make someone’s day by being thankful.

Smile at people and say hi when you pass them on the street or someplace inside. Take a break from the phone and connect with people around us.

Write a note to people that have impacted your life and send it in the mail! One of our employees is doing this every month for a year. She’s already sent 10, and interestingly enough, each of those people reached out and told her how much the note meant.

Leave It:
Leave a book that you love in a public place with a note explaining why you loved the book. Encourage that person to do the same.

We’re excited to be more mindful and practice kindness. Let us know what you’ve tried when you come see our fantastic condos for sale. Let us be kind to you and help you find your dream home!
